On 14 February 2019, detained in Krasnogvardeiskii district of Crimea and the next day taken into custody by court decision on charges of organising activities of a terrorist organisation in connection with alleged involvement in the activities of the Islamist party "Hizb ut-Tahrir". On 3 November 2020, he was sentenced to 17 years in a strict regime colony. On 16 April 2021, the court of appeal returned the case to the first instance court to eliminate procedural errors. On 1 November, the sentence was confirmed. In February 2024, it became known that the court refused to count Emiruseinov's time spent in custody before the sentence came into force as part of his time in prison.
